So why stop at wine?
Here are a few of our favourite things from Belgium and Northern France
The Jenever Gin we have selected (after much self-sacrificing and trial and error)
is distilled at the Claeyssens distillery in France, a fascinating and officially
historical mill, which is bottled and distributed via our friends in Belgium. We
visited and took a tour to find out about the incredible history and unchanging
production methods and were delighted that the background backed up the drink. See
photos of the beautiful distillery in the gallery.
Occasionally you will also find the most excellent handmade artisan Belgian chocolates,
made by Willaert Chocolaterie
in Kortemark, Belgium and collected by ourselves on our frequent visits. Perfect
for entertaining – or better still, for entertaining yourself! We will only
be carrying a small stock of these chocolates so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Take a look at chocolate production in our gallery.
We are big fans of real Trappist beers and we shall be stocking our favourites,
which can be hard to find in the UK. As with the wine, the range will be something
of a moveable feast: the benefits of using small production specialists is obvious,
although continuity can suffer. However, we look upon variety as very much the spice
of life!
We shall change the range frequently because life is too short and they make so
many good ones – one would hate to miss out! We are off on a fact-finding/tasting
mission in the near future and you will see the results of our visit.
Perfectionists require, well, perfection, so we shall be offering glasses specific
to our range of beers and Jenever and high quality wine glasses for sale. Please
don’t hesitate to ask should you be looking for anything specific.
For the serious collector we can arrange for a full appraisal of your current collection,
including condition, value and cellar conditions. Please
contact us for this service.
